RME AS INSTRUCTIONAL THEORY


                Mathematic must be connect to the reality or the concept can to be imagine. Mathematic also must have a human activity. So that, Hans Frudental spark off RME. RME ( Realistic Mathematic Education ) is included in Learning and teaching theory. RME is approximation learning and teaching method so as to student find the connection between mathematic concept and mathematic in real situation. Real situation is mean that it isn’t just something real for student, but it is something that they can imagine, and also they can use knowledge that got before to the lesson.

                Real Situation   à     Mathematic Concept     à     Matematizing
                The scheme above refer that from real situation, student have mathematic activity and then they matematize it.
There are two matematizing type, that is
1.       Horizontal matematizing
Situation to following the model of situation, it’s mean that it is a transformation process from real situation into mathematic symbol.
2.       Vertical matematizing
Generalization situation, it’s mean that student don’t exceed transformation process but immediatelly to concept that has be known.
Three tenets in RME, that is
1.       Guide Reinventation
Every student is given chance to do the same process with the same mathematic concept.
2.       Dedactical Phenomenology
Phenomenon in learning and teaching in using context real situation.
3.       Self Developed Models
When doing the contextual problem, student is given chance to develop their own model to connect between formal knowledge and informal knowledge. Model of is the way in presentation model and model for is calculation.
